Pastor and StaffPastor Ron Schultz’s Biography


Rev. Ronald C. Schultz, the son of Harold and Bernice Schultz, was born in Bay City, Michigan on October 27, 1954. He attended Bay City Public Schools and Graduated from Handy high School in 1972. He first attended Delta College, then Concordia Lutheran Junior College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He attended Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana for one year and completed a Teaching degree at Concordia Teacher’s College, River Forest Illinois (Which is now Concordia University Chicago). He completed his student teaching at St. Lorenz, Frankenmuth, Michigan. He graduated in 1977.


He married Christine Dunker, the daughter of Earl and Joann Dunker of Freeland, Michigan at Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan on June 25, 1977.


His first call was to St. Matthew’s Lutheran School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to be a 7th and 8th grade teacher and principal. After two years Ron attended Concordia theological Seminary in fort Wayne, Indiana starting in the fall of 1979.  Ron and Chris went to St. John’s Lutheran church, Sayville, Long Island, New York for his vicarage. He served under the Rev. Dr. Albert Neibacher during a pastoral vacancy. Pastor Schultz graduated from Concordia theological Seminary in May of 1983.


Pastor Schultz’s first call as a pastor was to Redeemer Lutheran church in Saginaw, Michigan where he was ordained on June 26th, 1983. He left Saginaw to be an Associate Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church, Holland, Michigan from May 1989 to January 1, 1991. He was installed to be pastor at Grace Lutheran church, Monroe, Michigan on January 6th, 1991. He served with a number of great staff members including, Mr. Larry Rockensuess, Pastor Dan Kempin and Pastor Mark Witte and many others.


Ron and Chris have three children. Sara Schultz, born January 2, 1986, who is an Associate at The Historical Society of Michigan. Bethany Ellis, who is married to Vicar Garet Ellis. They have a daughter Norah, 15months old, our first grandchild. They are at Living Savior Lutheran Church and George Mason University in Fairfax Station, Virginian, near Washington D. C.  Nathan is the youngest. He has a teaching degree from Concordia University Wisconsin, and is now a first year student at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.
